The Harrison Festival of the Arts Presents: Còig

Over the years we have presented some of the finest in Cape Breton traditional music, from Wendy MacIsaac to Mary Jane Lamond to Mairi Rankin. Coig represent the current generation of musicians who are drawing strongly on their traditional roots and celebrating their culture far and wide, easily shifting between centuries old tunes of past generations and original and contemporary compositions. Though a quartet, they collectively play over a dozen instruments (vocals, fiddles, piano, guitar, banjo, mandolin, viola, bouzouki, whistles, and more). The band consists of fiddlers Chrissy Crowley (Margaree) and Rachel Davis (Baddeck), strings player Darren McMullen (Hardwood Lands), and pianist Jason Roach (Cheticamp). With driving tunes, haunting songs, step dance, and infectious energy, Còig is an unparalleled musical force.
